I was looking for a crystal ball the other day when trying to decide if I should accept the offer on my house or not. In the end, I did accept it, the inspection was the other day, and they didn't ask us to do anything too expensive. So, it looks like once I sign this, we go to pending. Hurray!
Hopefully tonight I dream about a good house to offer on next. One that we offered on last week got three offers, and they took the one with no contingencies. I mostly wanted it just to be done with the whole house hunting process!

"A surprise announcement will free you."
This was yesterday's fortune- and it was true- sort of. I was supposed to facilitate a workshop in the afternoon, but my co-facilitator canceled, freeing me up, to!
I had a headache when I woke up. I looked around at the mess we'd made from the house and all the stuff needing to be put away from our trip- ughhh. The phone rang. It was the real estate showing service. Could we show the house in 45 minutes? No Way! My realtor quickly called to reschedule- how about in 2 hours? Luckily I had already unpacked and put a lot of things away. With H's help, we managed to get the house pretty spotless, and were almost out the door when the people showed up.
For his Eid present, Ali had gotten a new DSi chip, but Leila told her dad she just wanted love for Eid. (She's very non-materialistic).
I decided she should at least get some new clothes. She doesn't really need much, but it's fun to have some new things for school, and she's been wanting to go clothes shopping at the mall. After a food court lunch, we went into H & M and she got a couple of new outfits. Then we stopped in Macy's and got her the LOVE t-shirt we'd seen on the way in. After all, Love was her request for Eid. She'd already chosen a first day outfit from her closet, but I think it's been usurped by something we picked up.
(I did go to work yesterday- we had evening meetings.)
Today we're going swimming with girl scout friends.
I hope today's fortune "A long, lost love will cross your path," won't come true, unless it's something like a food or activity I have forgotten.

"Make good on your debts."
Interesting fortune as we just got a new car and are looking for a new house...
Actually, I'm thinking about non-monetary debt- the kind we run up with friends and family. I do "this" for someone, and they do "that" for me. But who keeps score? I have a bit of a tally in my head- if my kid goes to a play date at someone's house, I feel like next time I should host the play date. However, having a little baby changes that somewhat. Friends offer to take my older kids, and I let them, without feeling like I have to repay. One friend took the kids swimming with her daughter, and when they got back I fed them all dinner, but that just happened to work out.
J and S, from my heart family helped out sooooo much in getting this house ready to sell. J cleaned every inch of the bathrooms, while S worked miracles on the yard in the hot Texas sun. Then they came back a month later, with more garden work for S and baby care for J. That's not the kind of debt I can repay- and being family, I don't have to.
It's nice to have the kind of relationships where debt isn't tallied and called in.

Changing
We've been doing a lot of organizing/decorating at the house. While the kids and I were gone, H repainted the living room in almost the same color as before (that was winter wheat- now it's valley view- not quite as good) and changed the colour of the kids' room from yellow to half green/half blue. This fits the themes we picked out of mermaids and underwater for Leila and air transportation for Ali. Then H built two storage beds for the kids, and bought colorful bins for their toys. I am still working on windows and some other decor for the room, but it's a start.
Then I put colourful IKEA pillowcases on the chairs that were marking up the dining and living room walls, and bought a Hemnes T.V. bench which I am currently putting together on the living room floor. We've also moved some furniture around. Ali asked me last night "Why is our house changing?" I thought he might not like it, since he doesn't always like change right away, but it seems he just had a question. I've also got some plexiglass so that I can exhibit one of my larger photographs on one wall of the living room using Ribba picture rails. It's got to all come together by Saturday night, when we've got a huge Ramadan dinner going on. I'll post pictures when it's all finished.
Last night, I heard a thump, and went into the kids room to find Leila on the floor, her pillow still beneath her head. This morning she didn't remember falling out of bed- or getting up to drink water. Ali says it didn't happen because he didn't hear it.We put a rail up for his bed, but didn't have one for hers. They are about 3 feet off the ground. Good thing sleeping children are relaxed and we'd put the bean bag chair next to her bed.
