Ali asked H for a haircut last night. This is monumental, because we've been talking about it for a while, but he hasn't wanted one. Toward the end he got restless, though, so some parts are a little shaggy still.
This morning I asked him what his teacher was going to say, and he, in a grownup voice, said, "Your hair looks nice, Ali." But then as we were walking into school he decided he didn't want anyone to see his hair, and he put his arms over his head. This feat was complicated by the lunchbox that he insisted on carrying himself, but he marched in, arms up and lunchbox high, and managed to get into the classroom unnoticed. As I was leaving, I heard his teacher say, "Ali, you got a hair cut!"
The second momentous event, and the one that he announced to me gleefully this morning was that HE SLEPT IN HIS OWN BED!!!
Wow, it's time party, fiesta, lalala, ALL NIGHT LONG!!! (Name that tune!)
Now if only we can repeat that tonight.
I asked Ali what his teacher said about his hair. "Handsome" was his reply.
