I was trying to get the wording right on an invite to come see the baby (if you want to come but didn't get the word, contact me), so I asked the room at large (aiming for my parents) what to say so people didn't bring gifts. Ali had an idea:
Please no gifts for the baby because if it’s electronic it could hurt him, or he could get his hand stuck inside and not get it out.

I remember when I was in 8th grade and mom and dad wanted to buy a food processor for their friends with three inquisitive, rash, daring boys. It made me sick to my stomach when they gave them the gift. I felt so certain that one of those boys would figure out how to put his hand in the machine with the blade running. I don't know why that bothered me so much!
