Whoopie Pies

Apparently I'm a couple of days behind this breaking news, but when I found this link to a New York Times article about these treats on libertylondongirl's blog, I realized that we were years ahead of the fashion. Kim Grant started making these in the boonies when she and my sister were in high school, and they were still popular when I was in highschool to take to retreats and bake sales. I haven't made them in years, so I might have to give it a go. I think I just saw here recipe the other day....

Bonnie S. use to make the best Whoopie pies. That is where I first heard of them. My mom gave Jacqueline a recipe for them and made them with her oneday. :-)

Thanks for clarifying. I didn't think he read my blog. I want to try a gourmet version of these sometime.

I remember making them with Kim when we were both living with Aunt Esther Steen. Some HS boys sat at the kitchen table and liked the beaters. I don't remember what event they were for, or who was licking the beaters, but I have never forgotten how they taste. I have the recipe in my old recipe box, written in Kim's handwriting.
