Conflict
We've been talking about conflict management in class which reminded me of my mediation training and the idea that conflict arises from the PERCEIVED lack of resources. This makes me wonder why there had to be conflict between Jacob and Esau over the blessing from their father. A blessing is words. It isn't like a thing that can't be divided or duplicated. I can say the same thing, and indeed, hope the same thing for more than one person. WHy couldn't Isaac do that with his sons? Why couldn't they both have the blessing? Isn't it the same with love too? There's always enough love to go around- people shouldn't get into conflict about that either, but we do. (Of course, I'm not talking about a sexual love-fest.)
